Round off your time teaching and sports coaching with an amazing Garden Route Trip
Keen to do some further travel? We are delighted to be offering our sports coaching and teaching volunteers the opportunity to take a Garden Route Trip. This is an amazing way to round off a fantastic volunteer experience.
The Garden Route trip lasts for 7 nights, from Friday – Friday. It takes you from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, with the option to return to Port Elizabeth at the end if you wish. The trip costs just £450 extra in addition to your volunteering period. The tour departs only on selected dates each year. The tour dates can be seen below:

Garden Route Trip itinerary
Day 1: Friday
- 14:00 travel from Port Elizabeth to Storms River
- Check in to your accommodation and head out to explore the area
- Extra activities at Storms River, which can be done at your own expense, are:
- Mountain bike trails
- Treetop canopy tours
- Ziplining over waterfalls
- Kayaking
- Horse riding
- Suspension bridge
- Tsitsikamma National Park
- Bloukrans Bridge bungee jump
- Visit an elephant sanctuary
- Tubing
- Visit Monkeyland
Day 2: Saturday
- Have the morning free to carry on exploring
- 16:00 travel to Wilderness where you will spend two nights
Day 3: Sunday
- Wake up in beautiful Wilderness and canoe part way up the Touw River into the Wilderness nature reserve
- Take a short hike to a stunning waterfall
- Wilderness also offers one of the best beach views in South Africa, from the beautiful Dolphin Point
- Extra activities in Wilderness, which can be done at your own expense are:
- Paragliding
- Abseiling
- Hiking
- Visiting the beach
Day 4: Monday
- 9.00am travel to Oudtshoorn to visit Cango Caves and an Ostrich Farm (included)
- Travel on to Mossel Bay where you will stay for the night
Day 5: Tuesday
- 7.00am transfer to Cape Town
- Check in for three nights accommodation
- You and your group will take a trip up Table Mountain before stopping off to watch the sun set on Signal Hill
Day 6: Wednesday
- Today you will travel to the famous winelands north of Cape Town
- Taste some famous wines at the Spier Wine Estate
- Return to Cape Town mid-afternoon, where you will have the chance to explore the renowned V&A waterfront
Day 7: Thursday
- Today is free for you to enjoy your own explorations of Cape Town.
- Extra activities in Cape Town, which can be done at your own expense, are:
- Shark cage diving
- Cape Town city tour
- Visit District 6
- Visit the aquarium
- Head to Cape Point
- Skydiving
- Paragliding
- Climb Lion’s Head
- Visit Robben Island
Day 8: Friday
- Transfer day back to Port Elizabeth
- Alternatively, you can stay in Cape Town and continue your onward travels
- If you return to Port Elizabeth, you will have your accommodation and food provided on the Friday night in the volunteer accommodation. You would be transferred back to the airport on the Saturday.
